  • Overview

    The Cost Accountant applies principals of accounting to analyze cost of goods sold, gross profit and other financial information. They prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis. They also assist with the preparation of the annual budget.

    Responsibilities

    • Analyze the costing of inventory to assure accurate accounting of the ledger as well as appropriate gross profit reporting. Maintain info records to assure correct accruals relating to inventory.
    • Analyze trends, costs and other operating expenditures versus budget to assure reported costs are accurate and provide useful analysis.
    • Reports organization's finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
    • Performs reconciliations and maintenance of various balance sheet accounts.
    • Assists in the creation of the corporate annual budget, including providing a useful analysis of the prior years’ financials, as well as meeting with department heads to determine budgeting needs.
    • Perform and provide assistance on other various finance projects

    Qualifications

    • 4 Year Degree in accounting preferred or other business degree.
    • 3-5 year’s experience required within accounting or finance depending on area of accounting
    • CPA preferred
    • Extensive experience in utilizing PC based software and relational database structures to access information to create analytical reports. Advanced knowledge and understanding of MS Excel is required.
    • SAP or similar ERP software experience a plus.
