  • Overview

    The Delivery Supervisor leads a team of Delivery Drivers to transport customer products and materials.


    Essential Responsibilities:


    • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning drivers to predetermined routes.
    • Checks protection of product by observing the loading of product cages to ensure conformance to loading patterns.
    • Moves materials or products to storage areas by directing workers.
    • Supports routing schedules by coordinating customer needs with Branch Sales Managers and Distribution Management.
    • Estimates worker hour requirements by studying delivery schedules.
    • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
    • Maintains continuity among drivers by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
    • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate drivers to achieve work goals by initiating positive associate relations activities.
    • Maintains time and delivery records by verifying timesheets and driver logs.
    • Functions as delivery driver as necessary by performing delivery driver duties.
    • Checks in Delivery Drivers as needed by following prescribed accounting procedures.
    • Controls local product and material inventory by maintaining accurate receiving/shipping records.
    • Ensures physical security of facility by following outlined procedures provided by V. P., Operations.
    • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal requirements.
    • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:


    Manages members of the team in the distribution area. Responsible for providing effective leadership while fostering a positive team environment and providing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of organizational unit, department and/or functional area. Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing, rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    • Commercial Drivers License (Class B) and clean MVR required.
    • 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proficient PC skills using MS Office and other various computer systems.

    • Must have knowledge of DOT requirements and regulations.

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    • Ability to write detailed reports and correspondence.

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    • Must be a results oriented professional with excellent verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as strong customer service skills.

    • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pays attention to detail and meet deadlines.

    While performing the duties of this Job, the associate is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The associate is frequently required to talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must occasionally move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Ability to adjust focus.

    While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions and vibration. The associate is exposed to normal traffic situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
